Bread and Butter Pudding…YUM
- 7-8 slices bread
- 50g butter, softened
- 5 eggs
- ½ cup caster sugar
- 1-2 tsp finely grated orange rind
- 1 cup cream
- 1 ½ cup milk
- Preheat oven to 180°C. Lightly grease a 2.5L ovenproof dish. Spread the bread slices evenly with the butter. Cut into quarters and arrange in the dish.
- Beat the remaining ingredients until combined. Slowly pour over the bread and stand for 10 minutes.
- Place the dish inside a roasting pan and pour enough hot water around it to come halfway up the dish. Bake for about 1 hour or until the custard is set.
HANDY TIPS
- Modern variations include using spiced fruit bread or stale croissants instead of plain bread, or spreading the bread with Craig’s Blackberry Jam.
- Another idea is to layer Wattie’s Sliced Applesalternately with the bread.
